Recent research from Payscale.com reported the following findings about managers’ thoughts on college graduates’ skills. Managers said:
46% lacked Communication Skills 44% lacked Leadership Skills 39% lacked Public Speaking Skills 36% lacked Interpersonal/Teamwork Skills
In contrast, only 12% to 19% of managers believed college graduates lacked math and computer skills. I keep hearing about how employers want technical skills. Okay. That is partially true. And, these communication skills become even more important as we move into leadership positions.
